Paddington Teddy Bears

    Michael Bond found a teddy bear on a London shelf near Paddington Station in 1956.  He bought it for his wife for Christmas, and he was inspired to write a story featuring the bear.  Thus, “A Bear Called Paddington” was first published on October 13, 1958, followed by ten more books.

The first Paddington (teddy) bear was created in 1972 by Gabrielle Designs.  Paddington Bear was dressed in wellington boots to help him stand upright.  There is an entire story about how Paddington got his hat and how he came to London from “Darkest Peru”.
