Gund Teddy Bears

    Adolph Gund founded the company in 1898 that created the “Snuggles" bear featured in Sta Puf television commercials.  Gund created many of the safety standards used by manufacturers today.  Sweldin, who purchased the company from Gund in 1925, became the first person licensed to produce plush toy versions of Popeye, Mickey Mouse, and Felix the Cat.

The Gund Company slogan, “Gotta Getta Gund”, propelled Gund to be one of the most recognized companies in the US in the 1980s.  Today Gund sells over 1500 products, including bears and other cute stuffed animals.  Gund Teddy Bears became known for being softer than other teddy bears because they are understuffed.
