Care Bear Teddy Bears

   Care Bears came into being in 1981 as a set of different colored bears for greeting card use.  Kenner toys turned the Care Bears into plush teddy bears in 1983.  Each different colored bear has a special insignia on its belly the represents its duty and personality.

Over the years, Care Bears has developed into an industry with Care Bear cousins, various other animals, a television series, and feature films.  You can even find Nintendo games and DVDs.  The 1980s saw the peak of Care Bears sales with over $2 billion.
