Boyds Teddy Bears

Boyds Bears is a line of collectible stuffed and resin teddy bears. Gary Lowenthal and his wife made a stuffed bear for the couple`s newborn son. From that, they began making and selling stuffed bears, which became known as Boyds Bears from their home town of Boyds, Maryland.

In 1993, Boyds came out with resin bears. Part of the company`s marketing strategy was having an official fan club with yearly memberships and product catalogues. Then, too, the idea of a home party plan was introduced in 2004.

Boyds products have won numerous awards in national doll and teddy bear competitions.
